Just five days after the signing in Paraguay, the European Parliament asked the Court of Justice of the European Union to analyze whether the trade agreement with Mercosur complied with the bloc's founding treaties.
The proposal opened the door to a possible delay of up to 24 months in the ratification process, which is key for the pact to come into force.
