Luiz Carlos Corrêa Carvalho is an Agricultural Engineer graduated from the Higher School of Agriculture “Luiz de Queiroz” of the University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP, 1973), with postgraduate studies in Agronomy and Administration at the Faculty of Economics and Administration of USP, including studies at Vanderbilt University (United States).
He is the Director of CANAPLAN, a private company that provides consulting services and develops projects for the sugar and ethanol sector, since 1983. He is the Director of Market Relations for the plants of the Alto Alegre S/A Group.
He is Vice President of ABAG – Associação Brasileira do Agronegócio and President of the Board of ABAG – Associação Brasileira do Agronegócio.He is a partner of Bioagência, a company that markets sugar and ethanol in national and international markets.
He is a member of the Superior Council of Agribusiness of FIESP – Federação das Indústrias do Estado de São Paulo. He is Director of UDOP – União dos Produtores de Bioenergia.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of UNICA – União da Indústria de Cana-de-Açúcar and SIAESP – Sindicato da Indústria do Açúcar no Estado de São Paulo.He is President of the National Agricultural Academy of the SNA – Sociedade Nacional de Agricultura since March 2015.
She is a member of the ESALQ/USP Council and various private and public councils. She is a member of the GPS – Brazil Regional Coordination Committee.
Since May 2026, he has served as Special Envoy for Agricultural Affairs to the COP30 Presidency.

Among his main recognitions are: Bunge Foundation Award 2007, in the Life and Achievement category – Agroenergy; SAE Brazil Award 2008, in the Agricultural Machinery category; Agronomist of the Year 2011, awarded by AEASP – Associação dos Engenheiros Agrônomos do Estado de São Paulo; IAC Award 2013, awarded by IAC – Instituto Agronômico de Campinas, in the Agribusiness Personality category; STAB – Saccharum Award 2016; and the recognition awarded by IBDA – Instituto Brasileiro do Direito do Agronegócio, in 2026.
In August 2026, he received the Ney Bittencourt de Araújo Award – Agribusiness Personality, awarded by ABAG – Associação Brasileira do Agronegócio.
