He explained that this review could postpone its ratification by between one and a half and three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Illescas maintained that, despite the fears of the European agricultural sector, the agreement includes safeguards to prevent trade imbalances. According to the expert, this was a missed political opportunity, considering that the treaty represents Mercosur's most significant trade advancement since its inception. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Illescas also warned that the agreement faces internal resistance within the European Union, especially in the agricultural sector, and noted that there is misinformation about Mercosur's production standards.
